Is there discussion on the SCTP shoots costs, etc on the agenda or has it already been decided.

Better add  discussion regarding the position of state shoot shoot-off coordinator. That is a huge job given some of the complexity of all the categories and class fallbacks not to mention all the extras (club, husband/wife) etc. John’s shoes will be hard to follow and replaced but if you get someone on board now you might be ok.

When I served as state shoot tournament director, aside from hirering school labor and computer scoring guru, shoot-off coordinator was at top of list of importance.

Thanks for the offer Dan …. But been there … done that.

Yes the BOD’s has caught some heat on this post, for someone who gave so much some public acknowledgement was and is warranted.

And most of the shooters have dropped the ball as well, many don’t thank individuals, shoot management, BOD’s etc. That is also a shame.

Wow Dan …. explains a lot and why the WTA is in the state it is in. This whole post started to thank a member who has given 25 plus years of his life to serve the WTA and it’s membership. That should and deserves to be recognized and unfortunately it was not really done so.

No BOD’s responded except after they had a little thin skin. You want people to step up, volunteer, get involved, but yet can’t even recognize them for doing so.

Before you bitch about people stating their thoughts on this forum (one of it’s purposes for existence), figure out who they are that are posting. One thing about being a WTA director, you get lots of negative but very little if any fan fare. Trust me, I did it for over 10 years. It is a thankless job, shouldn’t be but is in many cases. I went to two events last year at the homegrounds. Made sure I thanked the shoot management and the directors present that I saw. Didn’t have to … it was just the right thing to do.

Go back to the original post Dan … re-read it and realize what it was about …. then do the right thing.

I also, like Don, understand all too well the sacrifices the BOD’s make when they volunteer to serve. And maybe that commitment is even more so now that they have gotten in the gun club managing business.

I understand why the WTA has a website, but why they have this forum  … I have no idea as they barely use it. Very view posting on here and it’s almost unheard of to see a director post anything which truth be told is no different than it’s ever been. The last forum that I managed for the WTA was the same.

This site is totally underused. It is a great way to get information out to the membership or to have dialogue among the members. Since the directors don’t ever post I have no idea if they even look at the site and see what THEIR members are saying or talking about.

I was up at two events this year at the Homegrounds, the SCTP State Championships and the 5 Man Team shoot. Enjoyed both events and made sure to thank as many of those as I could in person, so I’m sure you are correct Amy that in person, or email, phone whatever, John was thanked.

This whole thread was started to thank a individual who gave so much of his time, talent, and in some cases I’m sure money to the WTA and it’s membership. A great way for the directors and the membership to thank John publicly for his efforts and contributions throughout the years. Knowing John, he’s not looking for recognition or fan fare, not one bit why he stepped up all these years, still doesn’t mean it’s not nice to get a little pat on the back.

During my time on the board, I was grateful then and I’m thankful now for John and the effort and commitment he gave to the WTA and the membership.

I can’t believe it but it does speak volumes regarding the state of the WTA and the membership. I posted this 4 days ago and it got two responses. Very pathetic for a man of high character and integrity who has served the WTA and it’s membership for 25 years plus. Can you believe it, two responses and one of those was from someone in a hospital bed. No board members responded. To say the least I’m disappointed.

You read the minutes every month and the minutes constantly are talking about need for volunteers. No body when they are volunteering is looking for money but it is nice to be appreciated with a simple thank you. Why volunteer when it is not appreciated.

Maybe I’m wrong here and I welcome the dialogue to prove me wrong but it is very disappointing.

Another great thing by the WTA BOD’s.

So at the shoot, one of my shooters broke her first perfect score in competition. Arlene, Amy, and Dewey looked for a 25 straight patch to give to the young lady, but couldn’t locate one. Few days later in the mail, Arlene sent me the patch to my home with a nice note for the young lady.

Thank you very much for going above and beyond to make one of my kids happy !!

                      So this was pretty cool.

First my question. Can the results and payouts be posted from the 5 Man Team shoot.

My team members won some money. Got notiefied by Monday I believe, and got the checks yesterday. Now that is great service by the WTA !!

Some thoughts from my time up at the Homegrounds this past Saturday for the event.

                        1) The grounds looked fantastic , and in fact looked better than when I was up at the grounds in June for the SCTP State Championships. The grass looked exceptional throughout the grounds.

                        2) The new directors were very nice and welcoming.

                        3) Thought the target setting was very good and at least on my traps the kids did very well.

                        4) Could have done without the wind and rain !!

                        5) Liked that it was 200 targets. Made the drive up from Milwaukee worth it.

Was a little disappointed with the turn out. Was hoping for more teams but I also (at least from what I could see on this site) thought that there was not that great of promotion for the event. Hopefully the shoot is attempted next year so some promotion and continuity can be achieved.

I had a blast shooting with 4 of the athletes from the high school team I coach. One athlete shot her first 25 straight. The experience was priceless !!

From what I can see , there hasn’t been a whole lot of promotion of the event on this site. Anyone have any idea how many teams are signed up or what the expected turn out is to be. Hate to drive almost 3 hours and it is for nothing.

Will their be food available on the grounds ???

I guess I don’t understand. If the board has been working under a gentlemen’s agreement not to collect mileage, why now is a former director asking for it. From what I understand the treasurer and secretary have been working in essence for free under a gentlemen’s agreement until cash flow improves.

I also don’t understand how you can be asking for reimbursement from 2014. That should have been paid already. That would be like me asking for reimbursement for my time on the board.

I have no doubt Bill logged the miles and did the work. He is a honorable man you gave much of his time and talents to the BOD’s and the shooters.

My question. If we give him the option of the lease as payment, should we make the same offer to the treasurer and secretary? Since our directors are taking no reimbursement, should they get their campsite FOC during the week of the state shoot ?  Some questions to ponder …..

You are correct Pete, Maybe not worded as well as could be. My point though is a fact that what Kevin said is not true.  The kids did get paid to work the shoots at Waukesha.  As I stated I’ll explain the way we did it, what we paid, how it was distributed, etc to anyone who cares to reach out and get the info
