I booked a room at the Fern Hotel in the Rapids. Never stayed there but the reviews on TripAdvisor look good and the rate is good.
I stayed at the Shermolot last year. It was ok. The rate was ok and the location great. 3 miles. They don’t take reservations until the first of April.
The Mead blocks rooms for the water ski show. Some come one month prior they release rooms so check back then. The same for a lot of the hotels in the rapids.
Where did you get a place Jim?
Pete. Why should it be up to the WTA to get the clubs together to discuss the shoot dates for the clubs. Unless the Homegrounds would be involved. This should be left up to the clubs. Not the WTA. Down here in the SE the clubs used to get together and discuss the dates also. I was involved with Cudahy, Lakeview and Winchester for a lot of years. The WTA wasn’t involved and would not have even been welcome. They weren’t and aren’t and shouldn’t be involved with clubs setting their dates.
Jim. How long and when are you planning on going and being there. It will be in Sparta. Didn’t look at which hotels are listed but there is really only two that I would stay at. HI is the newest, but is really gouging the shooters. I heard like $175 or more. The other is usually booked by the EC and I believe it is a Best Western now. I has changed hands a couple of times.
Check the hotels in Red Bud. Don Chrapla and Dwight Paulin have stayed there and said it was nice.
There is also a Best Western in Chester.
There are a couple of hotels scattered around within 30 miles or less.
I have been renting houses for at lease six or seven years now. The one I have now is less than 10 min. from the grounds. Ron and I pay $600 for the main week. Nothing fancy but 2 bedrooms and central air, car port, and everything else you normally have in a house. The owner moves out for the week. Leaves us some beer and booze. What more can you ask for. I will ask around to see if they know of any other houses available.
Now maybe you guys can see what it is like to set dates for a shoot. Ken said the WTA said it wouldn’t but with anyone. Well that is not true. First that would almost be impossible to do in May, June and July. Someone brought up the 50 mile rule. Well first off that doesn’t exist any more. Second who would be in the fifty miles on the dates suggested?
As for Gateway that really shouldn’t be a issue anymore due to the fact that the shoot is getting smaller and smaller. It was discussed. I actually thought that they did settle on that weekend at the meeting. I was there I think. The fact that it is not a reg. shoot shouldn’t matter due to the fact that the WTA needs to look at all types of shooting and help promote it too.
You had better settle on a weekend and keep it that way. If you do something this year and then change it again next year you will start loosing people. You need to start getting some consistency when it comes to dates so people can start setting up their calendars each year.
My feelings is Sept is better than Oct. People start slowing down after the Grand so the closer to it the better. Plus the likelihood of getting better weather is better. Not that Oct is bad because you can get some perfect weather the first week of Oct too.

Still needs a lot of work. I wouldn’t let me log in and yet it did log me in without me knowing it. It said wrong pass word and wrong user name and when I came back to try new password it said I was already logged in. Seems very confusing.
It took several months the last time before the crap hit the fan. Give it time.
Melinda went in using Internet Explorer and went in just fine. Be sure you scroll down. It looks like the screen doesn’t change but it is down there.
John is this something the Elizabeth could change maybe. When you switch to something off the main page you can’t tell it has changed. Maybe if the graphics where changed slightly or even if they were made a little smaller so people could see that the page has changed.
Ken. We”ll see how long that lasts.
John do you need a new key board with a coma on it? Just kidding.
I am using the thing on Window 10. I forgot what they call it now but it works ok.
Also one thing you may or may not know is who put the shoot on the calendar first. If the WTA puts a shoot on the records and someone else does later the WTA is not bumping heads with them they are bumping with the WTA. Also are you sure that these other shoots are Reg. shoots? Some of the shoots on the calendar are non reg. and therefore really shouldn’t matter to the WTA. I know Darien is but then again they are 125 miles apart. The WTA never said that they would not hold a shoot it there is another one somewhere else in the state. If that were the case from May until Oct the WTA wouldn’t be able to hold any shoots.
If I am not mistaken the next weekend the Missouri shoot starts.
