Amy. What clubs did he shoot at? Have you talked to the clubs them selves? Someone at one of the clubs may know him or have club membership with phone or address.

Pete . I didn’t have a vote because I am in a different zone. But it doesn’t matter if it was 1 vote or 100. Along the same lines the vote numbers probably shouldn’t be posted. When there are only 40 something votes, 1 is about 2.5% No different than any election. He lost. But now I will get him as my director even though I didn’t get to vote for him. And if you would look at my post about the directors you will see I said the same thing about not getting people to run. I also said that there were directors that didn’t want to work with him or couldn’t work with him. A majority of the people from last years board said that. And I will stand by that. I won’t name names because that could cause more problems. Also I read a email that had been sent out and one of his replies was he was tired of the bitching (some of which was between directors) and he wanted his name taken out of the email list and wanted nothing more to do with the directorship.

Still hoping for his recovery to allow him to make it to the State shoot.  His rehab (other than his normal daily walking) most likely won’t start till week 3.  That is when mine started.  But, and he knows this, it all starts with walking.  They recommend 3 times a day at least.  I know where I was at 2 weeks out and I know Fritz will be chomping at the bit to get out.

Knowing what shape (a lot better than I was) Fritz was in prior to the surgery and having been through this more than once myself  Fritz will be up and about soon.  Plus after having him hound me for a couple of years for my HOF picture and now finally having it he better get up and going.  He won’t be able to shoot but my money is on him to show up at the State Shoot.

With all that being said.  Fritz you are in Melinda and my thoughts and prayers for a quick and full recovery.

I guess my question would be.  Why have the forum if we have to call or talk to the person face to face.  The idea behind forum is to let others hear the conversation so they can see first hand not get it second, third or forth hand and get half truths or parts of the conversation.

First off no where in my post did I say anything about he or anyone else on the BOD needs to be there for every shoot.  I know EVERYONE has a life other than the WTA.  That includes the shooters that spend there hard earned money at shoots at the Homegrounds.  All I said was IF he was not going to be there things could be done different (payouts the same day).  IF he were going to be there he can write checks right there.  A simple fix would be to have a couple three hundred extra dollars in the start up money to help cover the payouts.

And Dan.  You talk about being negative.  This BOD has done nothing but bash the past boards.  If it weren’t for them you would be shooting the state shoot at on 10 traps at Waukesha.  Oh that’s right you don’t know anything about Waukesha do you.  The only reason the WTA is any better off today than 5 years ago is due to Ray Moser.  Plus now you have one of the best shooting facility with campgrounds in the country.

You talk about people bitching.  Well nothing has changed.  It has been this way for the 20 years I have been involved with the BOD.  In fact I would say it is even less now than before.  And I personally feel that it has nothing to do with the different BOD’s.

I agree with both of you about the pathetic support given to the WTA by it’s membership.

Yes Dan I have been there and done that and would do it again even with hind sight.  And trust me if it weren’t due to my health issues and having spent 10 time as much time on the BOD and working with the board and volunteering as you have I would most likely be back at it again.  If you feel you have been unjustly criticized  maybe you shouldn’t run again.  And yes the board is short people.  Ask yourself why you have lost people in the last year and a half or so.  Did it have anything to do with the fighting and bickering amongst the board.  Petty power plays.  Name calling.  The complaints from out side the board have not changed.  Maybe it was coming from inside.

You mention the few people that have nothing but negative comments.  First off there are only a few people that use this site.  Next you consider everything that people say here as negative.  And like I already said, YOU never pass up a opportunity to bash the past boards.  This thread was started as a question.  So now you say we shouldn’t be able to question the BOD.  You were one of the directors that voted to bring the forums back.  I argued against it.  Well now you have it.  You got what you wanted.

                    Have a blessed day

After reading Dicks first post over and over again I fail to see any bashing.  It looks like he quoted the meeting minutes and then asked a few questions.

As a person that was very involved with the WTA as a Director, ATA Alternate delegate, and as a member for a lot of years I know that all the people that you mention will be taking flack.  This is nothing new.  I would suggest if anyone cannot take this flack to step back and reevaluate their good intentions.  As this in noting new and I am sure that it will continue.  It is the right of every member to express his or her thoughts, feelings and emotions on this site, in person or on the phone to those people that it may concern.  This BOD was the ones that wanted this forum.  I strongly suggested that they not bring it back.  I knew how it went the last time and now it seems you and the rest of the BOD are not happy with the way things are going here.  I would have thought that the people involved would be happy with the responses as there are exactly what I told the Board they would get.  And yet they vote unanimously  to bring it back.

At least  no one has said to get involved if we don’t like it.  Between the Otto’s and my self and my wife we probably have more hours and years donated to this organization than everyone on the board combined.

After the year the Otto’s and the Mittag’s have had health wise all I can say is good luck and don’t take it personally.  Nothing is more important than your health and family.  Nothing.

Tate.  I think you are missing the definition of what a open meeting was a year ago and what it means now.  For the last hundred years the BOD meetings were open to the membership.  Just as Dick, Ken and I have been saying all along.  BUT.  In the past up until this last Oct 8th at the Sherwood Lodge the general membership was not allowed to vote on a issue.  They could voice a opinion but not vote.  The only time the general membership could vote was at the annual meeting held during the state shoot.  At no time in recent history (like at least 40 years) was the membership ever blocked from going to a meeting.  Never.  Once in awhile when the BOD went into Executive session we were asked to leave but only briefly.  Even when the meetings were held at the Otto residence there were always some non BOD people there.  Just like now.  How do I know this?  For a lot of years, like maybe 7 or 8 or more years, I attended almost every meeting.  I really liked Arlene’s deserts.

So to make a long story even longer this is my, and I think Dick’s and Ken’s, complaint.  We want the membership to attend meetings and have a say at the meetings but they should not have a vote in the day to day actions of the BOD.  If the board could ask for a show of hands to see what the general feelings are of those in attendance but that should be it.

Nate.   With open meetings everyone gets to vote.   If that is the case I could come up to a meeting with 20 or so people and vote in most any thing we want.   Including selling any or all of the Homegrounds.

The way it was written in the minutes the bylaws could be voted on at open meetings.  Not necessarily the annual meeting.

Along the same lines is this garbage a couple of BOD’s are trying.  This BS “open meeting”.  This is going to allow a few, and I mean a few, Director’s and a couple of members to change the bylaws, and a few other things.  Major things like these should be voted on by the general membership at the annual meeting.  Not a meeting where someone could bring a hand full of people and change everything.  Including selling off all of the homegrounds.  Ten or fifteen people could conceivably do this.  All they have to do is have it on the agenda a few times and they can do what ever they want.  This needs to be stopped.  When asked why they are doing it this way they (the BOD) said they are trying to get more people to volunteer.  That won’t help.  All it is going to do is piss off the majority of the membership.

Don.  This BOD was the one that made the decision to pay Denny half.  Last June at a meeting I was at they decided to do the stand up thing and honor the decision they had made earlier.  Don’t know why they changed their minds again.

You are so right about people not wanting to volunteer anymore.  But then again it is always the same people that have volunteered all the time anyways.

I find it just amazing that this BOD finds it so easy to blame everyone else for the problems they have.  And one of their group is saying things like “I guess what I’m trying to say as nice as I can is since I have been on this bod I spend more time worrying, wondering and listening to complaints than I do with my business that makes ten times what this place does because my business runs smoothly.” and “There are still bod positions”.  Gee.  Sounds familiar.  Well Horkin it was the same for the people on the BOD for the last 40 years.

Wow.  Feb. 7 but at least it has the right number of shooters.

Congratulations to all the shooters especially the first time team members.  I remember my first time and how exciting it was.  Enjoy.  You earned it.  Oh and by the way even though it isn’t my first time it is still exciting and something I strive for every year.
